Thomas Kinkade’s Wikipedia article
We’re all aware of Kinkade’s work as a standard butt of jokes – the painting world’s Nickelback, as it were. But many details here surprised me: for example, that he was friends with James Gurney of Dinotopia fame.
In 2006 John Dandois, Media Arts Group executive, recounted a story that on one occasion ("about six years ago") Kinkade became drunk at a Siegfried and Roy magic show in Las Vegas and began shouting "Codpiece! Codpiece!" at the performers. Eventually he was calmed by his mother.
Incidentally, I believe that the dauby way he renders lamplight in cottage windows would make any of these extremely funny with the small addition of a fire truck to the lawn.
